In the third edition of PTMC - Portugal Medical Cannabis, on June 16 and 17, doctors from different nationalities gather in Lisbon to show the benefits of cannabis in cases of autism, cancer, epilepsy and psychosis.

The PTMC is also attended by Portuguese MPs, lawyers, researchers and investors from international cannabis companies.

"The growing trend towards legalising cannabis worldwide leaves no room for doubt: cannabis does indeed have the potential to treat various pathologies and more and more countries are opting for its regulation. However, information on the clinical practice with cannabis is still very limited and the lack of training of health professionals still prevents the use of this therapy, which can make all the difference in the quality of life of thousands of people," reads the press release from the PTMC.

This international conference on medical cannabis, which will take place tomorrow at the Auditorium of the Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados, will explore myths and facts associated to cannabis and psychosis, as well as its therapeutic potential in paediatrics, especially in cases of autism, cancer or epilepsy.

Bonni Goldstein, a paediatrician in Los Angeles, Dani Gordon, a doctor in London, and Carl Hart, a professor of psychology in psychiatry at Columbia University (USA), are among the more than 20 speakers who will be in Lisbon to talk about their experience and show cases of success.

The PTMC ends on the afternoon of 17 June with a networking event aboard a catamaran on the Tagus River.
